The Ghana Bible Society, together with the Bono and Ahafo traditional councils, has launched the New Testament Bible in the Bono language.
According to a statement by the society, this translation is the first of its kind and will make the Bible accessible to millions of Bono speakers across Ghana and beyond.
The Very Rev. Dr. John Kwesi Addo Jnr, General Secretary of the Bible Society of Ghana, said that this development is a dream fulfilled, stating that the Bible in the Bono language will help preserve the language of the local people.
“We are filled with joy to bring God’s Word to the great Bono people in your cherished mother tongue. This represents a dream fulfilled for many, and we believe it will profoundly impact the lives of Bono speakers and preserve the Bono language for centuries to come,” he stated.
The official launch ceremony will be held at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Sunyani on July 28, 2024, at 9:00 am.
This occasion will bring together people from the Bono and Ahafo regions, including religious leaders, dignitaries, and esteemed members of the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East communities, to celebrate this historic achievement.
