The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has apologized to the family of 24-year-old Lois Abena Koranteng, who was found dead in a pool at the CrisLord Palace Hotel in Takoradi, and has expedited the investigation into the matter.
Ms. Koranteng reportedly checked into the CrisLord Palace Hotel on June 7, 2024, with her boss and another company staff member but was found dead in the hotel’s pool the following morning.
In a statement on Thursday, the police indicated that the IGP’s apology follows the dissatisfaction expressed by the deceased’s family in sections of the media regarding the extent of police engagement with them on the matter.
It also indicated the IGP’s assurance to the family of the service’s continued investigation into the matter.
“Following the dissatisfaction expressed by the deceased family in sections of the media regarding the extent of Police engagement with them on the matter, the Inspector-General of Police yesterday, 10th July 2024, reached out to the family via a telephone call and rendered an unqualified apology to them for the lack of sufficient Police engagement.”
“He assured them that investigation into the incident is still ongoing and also informed them of the readiness of the Police to visit them at their convenience and update them on investigation done so far. Police will continue to work closely with the family as investigation into the incident continues,” it stated.
