The University of Gold Coast (UGC) has matriculated 600 students into its new Specialist MBA program, marking a significant milestone in the university’s postgraduate expansion.
The program is designed to equip students with both academic knowledge and practical skills, making them competent, ethical, and impact-driven managers.
The Chancellor of the University of Gold Coast, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, disclosed that the specialist MBA has been designed with a strong professional pathway that goes beyond the academic award.

He explained that the qualifications are professionally aligned with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), United Kingdom, and that upon successful graduation, students are also positioned to be awarded the Chartered Manager status of CMI, strengthening their international competitiveness and professional credibility.
Dr. Titi-Ofei described the new Specialist MBA as “a leadership formation programme for
commerce and industry,” tailored to produce managers who are not only knowledgeable, but also competent, ethical, and impact driven.
He noted that the pioneer cohort reflects the programme’s industry relevance, with students drawn from diverse sectors across the economy.

Delivering the matriculation address, Prof. Samuel Nii Odai urged the pioneer cohort to embrace the rigour of postgraduate learning, uphold academic honesty, and pursue leadership that delivers measurable outcomes in their organisations and communities.
He described matriculation as a moment of both privilege and responsibility, calling on students to become worthy ambassadors of the University through competence, character, and consistency.
The matriculation ceremony was followed by a morning cocktail networking event, where students interacted with industry leaders from various sectors, including banking, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
