Asa Savings and Loans has donated essential medical equipment to the Abuakwa Polyclinic near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to help improve healthcare delivery in the community.
The donation, which included three hospital beds, one patient monitor, one nebuliser machine and other vital equipment, forms part of the institution’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at supporting quality healthcare in underserved areas.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the items, the Abuakwa Branch Manager, Joyce Teye, said the gesture was in recognition of the critical role the clinic plays in providing primary healthcare to residents.
“We believe access to quality healthcare is fundamental to national development; and as a responsible financial institution, we are committed to supporting facilities like this to deliver better services,” she noted.
Also, Kwadaso Area Manager, ASA Savings and Loans, Samuel Odame Sakyi, mentioned that the donation is to help support the healthcare of women especially in the area. He told the B&FT in an interview that most of their clientele is women; therefore, their health is paramount so they can use their loans to work to improve their lives and that of their families.
The institution indicated that it would continue to invest in health, education and community development initiatives as part of its long-term CSR strategy.
The Medical Superintendent of the polyclinic, Dzifa Manye Mensah Awuku, expressed profound gratitude for the support, stressing that the donation would help address some of the facility’s challenges.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to ASA Savings and Loans. Your generosity has exceeded our expectations and demonstrated the deep love you have for improving hospital service delivery. I assure you that whenever we use this equipment—whether in the theatre, in the wards or in monitoring patients—the Lord knows that through your support, lives are saved, patients are restored and hope is renewed.
“These items will go a long way to improve patient care, especially in maternal and child health services. We are very grateful for this timely intervention,” the doctor said.
Some patients at the facility commended ASA Savings & Loans for the support, describing it as a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the area.
