Ing. Osman Abudu appointed MD/CEO of SUNU Assurances

SUNU Assurances Ghana LTD, one of the largest generals (non-life) insurance companies in the country has appointed Ing. Osman Danfodio Abudu as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The appointment took effect on July 22, 2025, said a statement issued by the company in Accra last week .

Ing. Osman Abudu brings multiple professional qualifications and 23 years experience in the insurance industry in Ghana to the position he now holds.

He is a professional engineer and a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering. He is a chartered insurance practitioner, being a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of the United Kingdom.

He also holds an Associate Risk Management qualification from The Institutes of the United States. His unique blend of engineering expertise and deep technical knowledge of insurance, combined with his sheer professionalism and personal integrity have enabled him to build a solid reputation with regards to strengthening claims management and driving technical excellence in the industry.

Ing. Abudu started his sterling career in Ghana’s insurance industry at Enterprise Insurance Company in 2002, where he went on to establish that company’s Risk Management Unit, before going on to head the Claims, Underwriting and Reinsurance departments. While at Enterprise he rose to Head of Technical and then Acting General Manager, Operations, playing a pivotal role in building the company’s technical strength and credibility.

He left Enterprise in 2024, joining SUNU Assurances Ghana LTD as an Executive Director/COO. While serving on the board in this position, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director, the position he held until his recent appointment as Managing Director and CEO.

His appointment to helm SUNU Assurances comes as a result of his sterling track record of accomplishment since joining the company at the Executive Management and Board level. He has been instrumental in spearheading strategic initiatives in marketing, distribution and product innovation. Instructively, one of the innovative products he has introduced has already earned national recognition at the recently held Ghana Insurers Awards.
