
In a landmark move to strengthen Ghana’s car rental industry and promote local automotive innovation, the members of Car Rental Association of Ghana (CRAG) have entered into a strategic partnership with Kantanka Automobile Company Limited and Agyeo Barima Enterprise, dealers in automotive parts.
The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), was sealed at a high-level breakfast meeting held recently in Accra.
Under the agreement, Kantanka Automobile will supply its locally manufactured vehicles to CRAG members on a flexible preferential credit arrangement. Members will make a 40% down payment, with the remaining 60% spread over a 12-month period.
This initiative is expected to ease the financial burden on small and medium-sized car rental businesses, enabling them to expand their fleets with durable, Ghana-made vehicles.
Agyeo Barima Enterprise, a leading supplier of vehicle spare parts, will complement the partnership by providing CRAG members with high-quality spare parts, car batteries, and premium tyres.
These products will also be offered on flexible payment terms, ensuring that members can maintain their vehicles efficiently without compromising cash flow.
Speaking at the breakfast meeting, representatives from all three organizations expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to transform the car rental landscape in Ghana. CRAG President, Michael Sarpong, who is also the CEO St Michael Car Rentals emphasized the importance of supporting local manufacturing and empowering entrepreneurs in the transport sector.
“This partnership is a bold step toward building a resilient and self-reliant car rental industry, By aligning with Kantanka and Agyeo Barima, we are not only promoting Ghanaian innovation but also creating opportunities for our members to grow sustainably,” he stated.
The General Manager of Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, Francis Kudjordjie highlighted the Company’s commitment to producing vehicles tailored to Ghana’s terrain and transport needs, while The CEO of Agyeo Barima Enterprise, Akwasi Agyemang Okyere pledged to provide CRAG Members in good standing with the exclusive offers on automotive products aimed at improving operational efficiency and cost savings as well as ongoing support in ensuring the longevity and performance of CRAG members’ fleets.
The strategic partnership is expected to boost employment, enhance service delivery, and reinforce the “Buy Ghana, Build Ghana” agenda. It also marks a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between local manufacturers and service providers.
With this partnership, CRAG continues to position itself as a catalyst for growth and innovation in Ghana’s transport sector, championing initiatives that benefit both its members and the broader economy.
