Ghana’s leadership in digital innovation was once again on display as the country’s winners of the prestigious World Summit Awards (WSA) convened at IT Consortium’s offices on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
This engagement followed Ghana’s strong performance at the WSA Global Congress in Hyderabad, India, where Ghana secured three (3) of the 40 global awards, an achievement that reinforces the country’s growing reputation as a hub for impactful and inclusive digital solutions.
With national experts from over 182 countries submitting nominations, the WSA remains one of the most competitive digital innovation platforms globally.
The event was attended by Madam Dorothy Gordon, a WSA Board Member and National Expert for Ghana, along with representatives from the WSA Global Office.
It provided a dynamic platform for dialogue between Ghana’s top digital innovators and international thought leaders on the future of technology, equitable information access, and sustainable digital development.
Welcoming participants, the Chief Business Development Officer of IT Consortium emphasised the critical role of partnerships and knowledge exchange in scaling African technological solutions onto the global stage.
Hosting the event also demonstrated IT Consortium’s commitment to supporting innovation and thought leadership within Ghana’s technology ecosystem.
In her keynote, Madam Dorothy Gordon applauded the Ghanaian winners for their ingenuity, resilience, and dedication to leveraging technology for social good. She underscored the need for locally grounded innovations with global reach.
“The future of digital development lies in the hands of innovators who understand their communities and are inspired to build solutions that transcend borders”, she stated.

KhayaAI supports many African languages, making it a critical tool for underserved communities. The team highlighted their commitment to ethical AI development and full compliance with Ghana’s data protection regulations.
Strategic Participation and Global Recognition
Ghana’s visibility at the WSA Global Congress was further supported by the Mohinani Group, which sponsored the participation of Kwesi Hayford (President, e-Sports Association Ghana), Kafui Anson-Yevu (Kraado), and Ato Ulzen-Appiah (GhanaThink Foundation).
Their presence contributed to a strong Ghanaian showing at the event and emphasized the growing role of private sector support in promoting digital innovation.
The Hyderabad Congress gave Ghanaian winners a platform to present their solutions, connect with global peers, and engage in high-level discussions on operational scaling, digital inclusion, and the legal frameworks that foster trust and long-term innovation.
Building Africa’s Digital Future
At the IT Consortium engagement, the conversation continued with the focus on strategies to increase the regional and global relevance of African digital solutions.
Madam Gordon and the WSA Global team closely interacted with the winners, underlining the importance of sustainable digital development and multisectoral collaboration.
Beyond celebrating individual achievements, the event promoted policy advocacy, capacity building, and public-private partnerships as essential to unlocking Africa’s full digital potential.
The Chango team also championed the need for increased investment in Africa’s digital economy and innovation ecosystem.
As the event drew to a close, there was a renewed sense of enthusiasm for Ghana’s digital future. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration and building solutions that deliver meaningful and lasting impact across the continent.
The World Summit Awards remains one of the most prestigious global platforms recognizing digital innovation that advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through initiatives like these, Ghana continues not only to earn recognition but also to shape the digital future of Africa and beyond.
