Blue Gold Bogoso Prestea Limited has pushed back against the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources’ recent announcement regarding the termination of the mining lease for FGR Bogoso Prestea Limited.
In a statement released company, Blue Gold expressed surprise at the news, indicating that it had not received any official communication about the lease termination.
“We wish to state that no such communication has been received by the company,” the statement from Blue Gold read. The company further asserted that “the grounds for any such termination would be strongly disputed by the company, and while any such dispute is ongoing, the mining leases remain fully valid and the property of the company.”
Blue Gold assured its employees and stakeholders that the mining lease termination process is subject to prescribed legal procedures, emphasizing the company’s commitment to following due process. “We therefore take this opportunity to assure all our workers on site to remain calm and go about their duties,” the statement added.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, led by the Minister, Samuel Jinapor, announced on September 18, 2024, that it had terminated FGR Bogoso Prestea Limited’s mining lease, effective from September 3, 2024.
