Was sitting here thinking about some old times
About some old flames of fire
Suddenly some old flames fired up my passion
Inflamed my passion for old flames
Sadly
Sad old faces of flames
That burned but turned burnt
Sad old faces of old flames
That burned but turned blunt
Dreary faces of old flames
They that just flickered
Dreary old faces of old flames
They that breathed no fire
They that lingered only to extinguish the flame of fire
Gloomy old faces of flames
They that fanned no passion
Gloomy old faces of old flames
They that burned out passion for love
Passive old faces of flames
They that burned in vain
Passive old faces of old flames
They that burned into palpable pain
Deceitful old faces of old flames
They that pretended to be full of fire…but full of smoky days
They that flickered back and forth…and expired without a flame of fire
They that exited without regret…and left behind a hearty ache

Was sitting here thinking about some old times
About some gladsome old times
Suddenly some old times of passion
Inflamed my passion for old flames of love
Gladly
Gladly, old flames of deep passion
Inflamed my heart so softly
An old flame to hold up a candle to my flame
III
Was sitting here thinking about some old flames
About some sunny old flames
Suddenly a sunny old face in a flame of fire
Appeared in a memory made of old kisses
A sunny old flame kept burning in the stormy winds
A sunny old flame kept shinning in a darkened meadow
A hearty old flame tenderly inflamed passion
Passion of fire that only love could extinguish
A hearty old flame that inflamed not just any
But inflamed yours truly only
A burning flame of melting fire
That held up a burning furnace
A burning flame of blazing fire
That never was doused by another flame
That soul of a dame of a flame
Her flame of love never dies !
