Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has once again demonstrated its commitment to quality education by making a donation of a state-of-the-art Smart Board to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
The donation of the Smart Board follows a call from the university seeking assistance with its digital lab. Some of the exciting and advanced features of the 75-inch smart board include multi-touch functionality, wireless connectivity and digital tools that would allow for better engagements and simulations by lecturers and students of UEW.
During the presentation ceremony, which took place at the University of Education, Winneba, Mr. Joseph L. Ashong, General Manager for Commercial and Retail Banking, said, “As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Republic Bank has adopted four (4) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including SDG4 which is Quality Education.” We believe this smart board is an educational tool to enhance the university’s teaching and learning experience. Providing students and faculty with modern, interactive technology to facilitate their academic activities.”
Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, Vice Chancellor of UEW, thanked the Board, Management, and Staff of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC for the kind gesture. He stated that “the smart board will transform the teaching and learning in our institution by providing students and lecturers with a cutting–edge tool to navigate the complexities of technology.”
Some members of the UEW community, including Prof. Victor Antwi, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Wilhemina Tete-Mensah, Ag. Registrar, Dr. Augustine Monney, Director, ICT Services, and Mr. Amos Amamoo, Secretary, attended the presentation.
Republic Bank representatives were Mr. Joseph L. Ashong, General Manager, Commercial and Retail Banking, Mr. Pious Twum Barima, Southern Sector Manager; Mrs Leila Pentsil, Manager, Communications; Mrs. Sussie Afriyie, Branch Manager, Winneba; Mr. Kwaku Acquaah; and Ms Irene Enyonam Quaye.
