The African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) and CITAC – a specialist consulting group in Africa’s downstream energy industry – extend their heartfelt congratulations to Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd., a member of the African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) for receiving its full operational licence to function as an oil refinery in Ghana.
This commendation was made during a courtesy visit by representatives from ARDA and CITAC to Executive Chairman-Sentuo Group, Mr. Xu Ningquan, at the Sentuo Oil Refinery in Tema on Friday, July 19.
Mr. Xu Ningquan, Executive Chairman-Sentuo Group, emphasised the necessity of Africa achieving energy self-reliance and taking ownership of its economy by reducing the export of crude oil and importing finished products. He stressed that Africa must develop its refining capabilities to add value for its crude resources.
In line with this vision, the Sentuo Group is investing US$980million in a 2 million metric tonne per annum capacity oil refinery at Tema, with plans for a second phase to increase the capacity by an additional 3 million metric tonnes per annum – demonstrating their commitment to creating value in Africa.
In response, Anibor Kragha, Executive Secretary-ARDA, thanked Mr. Xu Ningquan for his unwavering commitment to developing local refining capabilities in Africa. He lauded the bold steps taken by the Sentuo Group’s investing in the Sentuo Oil Refinery, a move poised to significantly boost Africa’s energy sector.
Mr. Kragha further emphasised that the main objective of ARDA is to create an enabling environment for African oil refiners to thrive and attract investment into the industry.
This goal is supported by CITAC, which provides a wealth of data and analytics about the African downstream energy industry.
