The Vice Chairperson of Ahantaman Rural Bank PLC, Elizabeth Obeng, has been adjudged Ghana’s Most Outstanding Female in Rural Banking, at the 10th Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards (FGAA) 2024 held in Accra.
The prestigious honour recognizes her stunning leadership qualities and exceptional commitment to providing quality financial services. It also acknowledges her extremely respected personality as an advocate for best business practices in the sector.
Interacting with the media after receiving the honour, Elizabeth Obeng said, this priceless achievement is a testament to the team’s dedication to excellence in every aspect of their operations.
She mentioned that this reflects her commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality customer satisfaction and also setting a benchmark for others to follow.
“I have worked extremely hard to build this solid reputation for myself and I strongly believe I deserve this important honour. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Directors, staff and everyone who has contributed to the building of our dear Ahantaman Rural Bank. The Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards, organised by The Business Executive Magazine Limited, seeks to publicly recognize women in Ghana who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in various forms of endeavor across both the public and private sectors, such as entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate executives, public institutional managers, diplomats, sportswomen, traditional rulers, and others.
The award ushers her as a fellow of ‘She Achiever’ which is the topmost connective female network platform in Ghana. The network is an executive association of top female CEOs and past FGAA winners. It creates a platform on which members can more easily reach out for assistance in a required field without incurring costs. It also stands for women’s empowerment and gets the voices of women heard on important social matters.
She highlighted that Ahantaman Rural Bank is positioning itself as a leader in the industry with credibility and reputation in the market.
Miss Elizabeth Obeng’s Footprint
Miss Elizabeth Obeng is currently the Director of Internal Audit at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU), and a Director on the Board of Ahantaman Rural Bank PLC serving as the vice chairperson. She is also the chairperson of the finance, audit, risk, and compliance committee of the board.
She holds professional qualifications in accounting, auditing and taxation, awarded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), the Institute of Internal Auditors, Ghana (IIAG), and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIT) respectively.
She also holds an MBA in Management Information Systems from the Paris Graduate School of Management; an MSc in Finance and Accounting from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Coast.
She has meritoriously served at the Directorates of Internal Audit and Finance of the Takoradi Technical University for 27 years, rising through the ranks to her current position as Director of Internal Audit.
As a Board member of Ahantaman Rural Bank, Elizabeth has led a team to assist girls in second cycle instructions in the catchment area of the Bank to open bank accounts with the financial institution, thereby teaching them the culture of savings at an early age.
