LadySam’s ‘INCLUDE HER’ conference, supported by SHIMEI Solutions and held over the weekend, was a fun-packed event, according to the testimonials.
The women came out in their numbers and there were some men in attendance who came to lend their support. Guest speaker, Professor Lord Mawuko-Yevugah – a Political Economist and Professor of International Relations, Gimpa, started off the programme with his thought provoking speech, asking where the women were, considering they made up more than half of the population; and how come they seemed not to be as much a part of the decision-making”.
The audience got the opportunity to hear first-hand from media personalities like Kokui Selormey, Helen Appiah-Ampofo, Edma Lawer, sales manager for GMABC – Mary-Anna Gyamfi, and the HR Manager for Nestlé Ghana – Sophia Benson, who were the speakers for the day.
The ladies shared strategic insights as to how to persevere through challenges, whether socially or professionally. They also shared tips on how to have a winning mindset. Host of ‘African Women’s Voices’ show, Eunice Tornyi, was the MC for the event.
The ‘INCLUDE HER’ conference marks the fifth year that LadySam has organised an event to mark International Women’s Day (IWD).
March 8 is the day that women all over the world celebrate and mark women’s day. Although IWD was conceived in the early 1900’s, it only became a global phenomenon when the United Nations adopted it as a global day in 1975. The ‘INCLUDE HER’ gathering was held at the Fiesta Royale Hotel on Saturday, 9th March, 2024, where the audience had the opportunity to network, interact and were treated to a 3-course meal.
There was a surprise guest in the person of TV3’s 2019 winner of Talented Kidz, Nakeyeet Dramani Sam, who recited a powerful poem to the INCLUDE HER guests. Also Nakeeyat’s brother, Rahman Dramani Sam, surprised the crowd with a couple of songs; the talented siblings made the occasion special.
LadySam, who was recently made the Acting Head of the Institute of International Relations and Diplomacy Network Ghana, combined her experience as a marketer, customer service trainer and life coach to impart on the audience, as well as taking them through the wheel of life tool (a life assessment tool).
LadySam also came with her own surprise as she launched her NGO, SHIMEI S.E.E.P; SHIMEI being a biblical name, meaning reputation or fame while S.E.E.P stands for SHIMEI Empowerment and Education Programme.
The Head of Sales and Marketing for Capemay Properties (developers of the Signature Apartments), Sandra Mudzimba, said at the conference: “Capemay Properties, developers of The Signature Apartments, are proud to be a sponsor of SHIMEI Solutions’ ‘INCLUDE HER’ conference, particularly because it is geared toward honouring remarkable women who bring strength, resilience and leadership to every aspect of business.
“This event celebrates the achievements of women and has inspired attendees to continue to champion equality and empowerment as we pave the way for a future where every woman’s voice is heard, every talent is valued, and every opportunity is within reach”.
