B&P Associates, a Ghanaian law firm, has demonstrated its commitment to fighting against breast cancer by raising and donating funds towards the healthcare of female breast cancer patients between the ages of 25 and 40 years at the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
This profound gesture stems from B&P’s core value of giving back to the community.
On December 13, 2023, a team from B&P Associates, led by Adelaide Benneh Prempeh; the Founder and Managing Partner of the Firm presented a cheque of GH¢91,340 to the National Center for Radiotherapy of Korle-Bu.
During the presentation, Adelaide Benneh Prempeh indicated that patients who are faced with this disease embark on an incredibly difficult journey.
“It therefore behoves on members of the community to identify how to support survivors as they take the bold step of facing the disease head-on,” she said.
She stated further that B&P decided to demonstrate its support tangibly by raising funds towards healthcare for patients in the target group in hopes that it serves as a challenge to members of the community to also make a difference in all ways possible.
B&P launched the fundraising period by hosting a cocktail at its office located in the heart of Labone. The Fundraising Cocktail dubbed “Painting in Pink- Contributing to the fight against Breast Cancer”, was held on October 26, 2023.
The Guest Speaker for the event, Dr. Verna Vanderpuye, Senior Consultant at the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, Korle-Bu, in an address, highlighted the great strides being made in healthcare delivery to breast cancer patients in Ghana, further affirming that early detection saves lives.
She therefore encouraged regular medical check-ups for early detection.
The Fundraising Cocktail was sponsored by Turkish Airlines, Reflo Company LTD and SPIE Oil & Gas Services.
Director for the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine; Dr. Joel Yarney expressed gratitude to B&P Associates for this compassionate act. He explained that despite the best efforts of the Centre, the high cost of healthcare for breast cancer patients impedes their access to needed healthcare.
He stated that the funds raised and donated by B&P would therefore be extremely appreciated by patients within the designated target group.
Ms. Adelaide affirmed the continued commitment of B&P Associates to positive impact on the community.
