Ho — A 40-YEAR-OLD man at Ahunda-Boso, in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region, Michael Kwaku Adzivo, who allegedly killed his younger brother during an argument over his missing underwear, was remanded by the Ho Magistrate Court.
Kwaku Adzivo, who made a brief appearance before the court on Wednesday, was said to have used a machete to slash the right arm of his brother, Gameli Adzivo, and stabbed him in the ribs with a knife, when an argument turned into a fight between them.
Police Chief Inspector, Rosamina Bani, told the court, presided by Mr Ebenezer Kweku Ansah, that the incidence took place on July 4, this year, at about 7pm at Ahunda-Boso.
She said that although the accused later found his missing underwear, he realised it had changed from its original colour to violet.
Chief Insp Bani said Adzivo confronted his younger brother over the matter and that led to bitter exchanges between them.
Prosecution said in the process, the accused attacked and slashed his brother with a machete.
According to Chief Insp Bani, the injured Gameli Adzivo was rushed to the Adidome District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The court heard that witnesses of the incident, arrested the accused and took him to the Waya Police Station, which in-turn handed him over to the Ho Municipal Police.
According to Chief Insp Bani, the police visited the crime scene, but were unable to retrieve the weapons used in committing the murder.
She said the search for the machete and knife was underway, and the body of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary at the same health facility.
The accused was remanded in police custody to appear again on July 24.
The adjournment is to enable the police to complete their investigations into the matter.
