The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the resumption of electoral activities for the election of regional executives in the Volta and Oti Regions, following the earlier decision to halt the process.
By this new decision, the party will proceed to vet all aspirants who had previously filed their nominations in both regions, except for the chairmanship position in the Oti Region which was not vacant.
According to the FEC, nominations would be opened for the position of Regional Chairman of the Volta Region which has now become vacant, from Thursday, May 16, 2019 to Saturday, May 18, 2019.
That, it said would be followed by filling of the nomination on Thursday, May 23to Friday, May 24, 2019.
Consequently, the following dates will apply to all positions in the Volta and Oti Regions and vetting would start on May 27, 2019 while elections are slated for Saturday June 15, 2019.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Functional National Executive Committee urged all to take note that regional elections for all the other eight regions affected by the creation of the regions would be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
