A six-day Sports Management and Administration course has ended at the National Sports College (NSC) in Winneba on Saturday.
The course, held under the theme "Challenges and opportunities in the management of sports institutions: the administrative conundrums and fallacies", had 16 participants.
The participants were from the security services, the National Sports Authority, Ghana Education service and some Technical Universities.
In his address at the closing ceremony, the Director for the Sports College, Mr Eric Nkansah-Dwamena said, he was glad the College was able to host a successful sports management course after ten years since it last hosted one.
He entreated the participants to go back and rectify management and administrative issues in their various institutions with the knowledge acquired.
He also mentioned that the management of the college was working hard to get sponsorship to cater for the fees of courses in the near future so as to increase participation.
Dr J.A. Baba, a senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba and a former Director of the NSC who was a resource person for the course, thanked the management of the NSC for putting the course together.
He charged the NSC to host the courses in every region across the country to help develop sports in the country.
The other resource persons were Dr Austin Luguterah of the University of Ghana and Dr Daniel Apaak of the University of Cape Coast.
The participants were lectured on developing modern sports management skills, promotion and delivery of sports, seeking corporate sponsorship, managing sports consumers, drug abuse and doping in sports, among others.
