More than 230 widows and children in the Twifo Atti Mokwa District have received pieces of clothes and other products from the Member of Parliament (M.P) for the area, Abraham Dwuma Odoom.
The annual event is aimed at supporting widows and vulnerable children in the Twifo Atti Mokwa district.
Addressing this year's programme, which was solely for widows, the MP said it was his contribution towards the eradication of hunger and poverty in the district. He explained that he would invest in the welfare of the people than give his share of MP's Common Fund to individuals to spend.
Nana Afranie IV, queen mother of Assin Fosu traditional area and chairperson for the occasion, urged women to take the education of their children serious.
Even though they are widows, she encouraged them to put all their efforts into the education and welfare of their children who will in the future take care of them.
The Queen mother of Twifo traditional council, Nana Abena Antwiwaa III promised that since the MP has asked the queen mothers to look for a land for the building of a hostel for traders, they will do so accordingly.
