The Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, is preparing to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidacy ahead of the 2028 elections, according to former Asante Akim North MP, Andy Appiah-Kubi.
Speaking to the media, Appiah-Kubi dropped strong hints that internal discussions and preparations are already underway for Dr. Acheampong to step forward as the party’s flagbearer.
He described the Abetifi MP as a unifier and a symbol of victory who possesses the right mix of intellect and business leadership to lead the NPP to power.
“The task on our hearts is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission,” he said.
“He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one—and his work speaks volumes.”

Appiah-Kubi praised Acheampong’s profile as a unique blend of “intellectual prowess” and “successful business leadership,” describing him as the ideal candidate to consolidate party support and attract floating voters.
“With him, we’re killing two birds with one stone… he is a symbol of victory,” he added.
While Dr. Acheampong has not officially declared his intent, his rising stature within the party and growing endorsements from key figures suggest he could be a major force in the race for the NPP flagbearership.
The 2028 elections will be a crucial test for the NPP, and party insiders believe a strong, unifying candidate like Dr. Acheampong could be their best bet at reclaiming power.
