Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia4Reall, is expected to be released today, May 22, 2025, from the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.
According to a Graphic Showbiz report, the 32-year-old is concluding a one-year and one-day prison sentence for her conviction related to conspiracy to receive stolen money.
Montrage’s incarceration stems from her involvement with a West Africa-based criminal enterprise that engaged in romance scams and internet fraud, defrauding vulnerable, older Americans of over $2 million.
Prosecutors revealed that she personally received funds from approximately forty victims, deposited into U.S.-based bank accounts under false pretenses, including elaborate schemes involving fake gold transport payments and fictitious FBI investigations.
The public figure, known for her substantial Instagram following, was extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States in May 2023.
She subsequently pleaded guilty in February 2024 and was formally sentenced on June 28, 2024, by U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.
In addition to her prison term, Montrage was sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to forfeit $216,475 while paying restitution of $1,387,458.
Court filings indicate that the sentencing judge approved a timeline for her return to Ghana, as proposed by her legal team.
Her lawyers have conveyed to the court that she is prepared to embark on a new chapter and contribute positively to society upon her return.
