The Accra Circuit Court has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of the Togolese national accused of carrying out multiple high-profile robberies in Ghana.
Adinda-Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, also known as Maxwell, together with Marzouk Alidu and Mohammed Djandjo, currently at large, have been charged with robbery and abetment of robbery, respectively.
Police Prosecution led by ASP Richard Amoah on Tuesday, May 20, disclosed to the court that the second accused, Abdou Moudjibou, has been exhibiting abnormal behaviours, including eating his excreta while in custody.
“We want the court to grant us an order to take him to a physiatrist hospital to ascertain his mental capacity. If there is a need to keep him at the Police station, then it should be the NIB custody. We cannot tell if it is his modus operandi or if he has any actual condition,” ASP Amoah indicated.
The prosecution alleged that the second accused, Abdou Moudjibou, stole $200,000, a gold wrist chain valued at GH¢20,000, a Gold Necklace valued at GH¢18,000, assorted jewellery including gold earrings, brooches and other items valued at GH¢5,000 and a registered CZ 75.5P pistol in a robbery spree.
After hearing the submissions, the presiding judge ordered that Abdou be remanded into the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to enable him to undergo a mental assessment.
