Black Stars coach Otto Addo made a motivational visit to injured defender Abdul Mumin in Spain, where the centre-back is recuperating from a March thigh injury.
Mumin’s injury, sustained during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 La Liga draw with Sevilla on March 31, has kept him sidelined, and he will miss the upcoming four-nation friendly series in London.
The Black Stars will face Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica in the UK-based tournament, set for May 28 and June 1, 2025, which serves as preparation for the September 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Mumin, with nine senior caps, expressed gratitude for Addo’s visit and updated the coach on his rehabilitation progress.
Mumin’s absence will be felt, having already missed Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Despite his injury, Mumin’s impressive form with Rayo Vallecano has earned him notable awards, including La Liga Goal of the Month and Rayo Vallecano Player of the Month.
The Ghanaian defender has also been nominated for the prestigious La Liga African Player of the Season award, recognizing the most valuable African player in Spain’s top division.
This award was previously won by fellow Ghanaian international Inaki Williams for his outstanding performances last season.
