The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has revealed plans to spotlight traditional shrines as a unique tourism offering, aiming to diversify Ghana’s cultural tourism landscape.
Speaking exclusively to 3news.com during his official unveiling as Director of Corporate Affairs at the GTA in Accra, Bright Kwesi Asempa Tsadidey emphasized that traditional shrines, often overlooked, possess significant tourism potential.
“Traditional shrines are tourism on their own, but no attention has been given to them. When people come to study how our traditionalists communicate with their gods, can you imagine the number of tourists it will attract if boosted?” he noted.
Mr. Tsadidey described this direction as a symbol of a renewed commitment to service, innovation, and a bold reimagining of Ghana’s tourism narrative.
“Tourism is more than movement—it is storytelling. It’s about transforming every visitor into part of Ghana’s living heritage, and empowering every Ghanaian to be an ambassador of our rich culture.”
He highlighted the Black Star Experience as a central initiative designed to showcase Ghana’s authenticity and legacy globally.
“This experience is more than an event—it is an identity, a movement that celebrates our arts, music, fashion, cuisine, and traditions,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Mr. Tsadidey outlined his core priorities:
- Intensify public education and awareness on the mandate of the GTA
- Strengthen communications to tell Ghana’s tourism story more boldly
- Build strategic partnerships with media and stakeholders
- Champion a unified tourism identity reflecting the soul of Ghana
“We are shaping a tourism industry that is not just thriving but transformative—one that belongs to all of us and elevates Ghana’s global presence,” he said.
Mr. Tsadidey holds multiple academic and professional qualifications, including a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from GIMPA, an MA in Communication for Development from GIJ, and an MSc in Leadership from UPSA.
