
Akoma FM’s morning show host, Sir John has bagged the morning show host of the year, 2024, Ashanti Region, at the 14th Edition of the Foklex Media Awards.
Sir John received competition from NYDJ of Y FM, George Ampratwum , Fox FM, Obarima Kwadwo Gyamfi ,Aseda FM, Aduanaba Abena Saah, Fish FM, Nana Darkwa, Ahwenepa FM, Nana Kwame Adjei Bohyen, Angel FM, and Kwabena Adjei Ananse, Boss FM in the category.
Speaking after receiving the award on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma87.9fm in Kumasi, Sir John, said he was elated to receive the award, which he observed would serve as a motivation to do better.
He described the award as a testament of a promise that there is more to be done, expressing gratitude to God, his family, management, the staff, and listeners of the Akoma 87.9fm, for the support he has received over the years.
“This is the proudest moment of my professional career. I feel really appreciated and valued. This award will help me remain more focused and dedicated to my work. Thank you all for making this happen. Akoma FM, and other affiliates of Media General,” he said.
The General Manager of Akoma FM, Ransford Nana Osei Asare, commended him on his achievement over the years and pledged management’s support towards the show.
He was also grateful to “cherished listeners for making us number in the region. We look forward for more such awards and grateful to our listeners and sponsors.”
The awards ceremony, an annual event to recognize and celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of television and radio journalists and presenters across the 16 regions of Ghana, took place at the National Theatre on May 11, 2025.
The event, which showcased the crème de la crème of Ghana’s media personalities, saw several others win awards across 74 diverse categories.
It also served as a testament to the collective dedication of media professionals to upholding the core principles of their profession.
