Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale has formally apoligised to his ex-manager, Bullgod for accusing him of being involved in the death of Fennec Okyere, a the late manager of Kwaw Kese.
In November 2022, Shatta Wale publicly accused Bullgod of being involved in the murder of Fennec Okyere, the late manager of Kwaw Kese.
Following this, Bullgod’s legal team filed a defamation lawsuit at the Accra High Court, arguing that Shatta Wale’s statements were not only damaging but also highly inappropriate, given that the case was still under investigation.
Seeking legal redress, Bullgod requested a court declaration that Shatta Wale’s remarks were defamatory and malicious.
As part of the legal agreement, Shatta Wale was expected to compensate Bullgod financially and issue a formal apology.
In a letter addressed to Bullgod on April 30, 2025, Shatta Wale said “I also wish to apologise to Mr. Hanson (Bullgod) and all the persons whom my publications of the November 2, 2022, have caused pain, agony, anguish, shame, ridicule, or hatred.”
The ‘Minamino Sin’ hitmaker further retracted the statements and allegations he made against Bullgod in 2022.
“I wish to retract each of the statements in the said series of publications, as I did not mean to say that Mr. Hanson had a hand in the murder of Fennec Okyere,” Wale added.
According to Shatta, it has now come to his attention that the allegations he made against Bullgod which were grounded on Bullgod’s purported confessions to him were generally “misunderstood or misconstrued”.
