
In a bid to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through photography, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced the launch of the National Heritage Photo Competition 2025.
The competition is opened to persons in all 16 regions of Ghana.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the competition is aimed at promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and providing a platform for young creatives to showcase their talents.
She said beyond showcasing Ghana’s unique heritage, cultural and tourism sights of all the metropolitan, municipal and districts in the country to the fore, the competition also aims to foster national pride and appreciation for the country’s rich cultural diversity.
“We are not only promoting our rich cultural heritage, but providing opportunities for young Ghanaians to showcase their creativity,” she said.
Touching on eligibility and requirements for the competition, the minister said entries can include photographs of heritage sites and cultural products, such as traditional dress and food, and added that participants must not be older than 25 years.
The initiative which is expected to contribute to the growth of Ghana’s tourism industry and promote cultural exchange, is being organized in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and supported by a range of organizations, including the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, National Commission for Culture, Bureau of Ghana Languages, National Theatre of Ghana, National Film Authority, and Ghana Tourism Development Authority.
Others are Pan African Writers Association, the Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute, the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the Creative Arts Agency, and W.E.B Du Bois Centre.
Entries to the National Heritage Photo Competition 2025 should be submitted to [email protected] not later than Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
