Former Finance Minister, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, has dragged two senior police officers to court over what he describes as an unlawful search and invasion of his privacy at his residence.
In a writ of summons issued by the High Court of Justice, General Jurisdiction, Accra, and signed by Mrs. G. Sackey Torkornoo, Mr. Ofori-Atta is suing DSP Bismarck Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah a.k.a. Sir Mensah, both stationed in Accra.
According to the Statement of Claim, Mr. Ofori-Atta is seeking a declaration that the officers’ entry into his home located at 25 Aborlebu Crescent, Labone, Accra (GL-041-2486), and the search conducted on February 11, 2025, was unlawful, trespassory, and a gross violation of his constitutional right to privacy.
Mr. Ofori-Atta contends that the police officers entered his property without any legal justification or warrant, thereby committing trespass and breaching his right to privacy.

Among the reliefs being sought are:
- A declaration that the defendants’ actions constitute trespass and breach of privacy.
- General damages for trespass and aggravated damages for the breach of privacy.
- A perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, or assigns from entering his property again or engaging in similar conduct.
- Costs incurred in pursuing the action.
The writ commands the two defendants to enter an appearance within eight (8) days of service, warning that failure to do so could result in judgment being given in their absence.
The lawsuit follows an incident on February 11, 2025, when a team of security personnel, including police officers, reportedly stormed the residence of the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta at 25 Aborlebu Crescent, Labone, Accra.
According to reports, the officers, without presenting a warrant, forcefully entered the property and conducted a search, raising concerns about a possible violation of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s rights.
The search, believed to be linked to ongoing investigations, sparked public debate on the conduct of law enforcement agencies in high-profile cases.
