Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited, Professor Kobby Mensah, says plans are underway to establish the largest tourism marketplace on the continent.
Speaking with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise on March 4, Prof. Kobby Mensah said that creating a centralized platform will connect tourists, service providers, and investors from across the globe.
He believes it is “part of Ghana’s broader strategy to position itself as the premier destination for tourism in Africa.”
Prof Mensah explained that “the marketplace will not only serve as a one-stop shop for travelers but also as a catalyst for economic growth, ensuring that tourism in Africa is not only profitable but also sustainable.”
The CEO further explained that “a lot of efforts are in place to restore dilapidated tourist sites, profile new tourist sites, and look for support systems (i.e. funding) to promote the country’s rich heritage”. He explained.
With its rich cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and warm hospitality, Ghana has long been a favorite among travelers seeking authentic African experiences.
