
Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has pledged his full support to Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in its pursuit of infrastructure development and academic excellence.
This commitment came during a courtesy call by TTU’s Management on the newly appointed Minister.
Minister Nelson acknowledged TTU’s significant contributions to human resource development in the Western Region. He also promised to strengthen the existing partnership between the university and the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
“I’m aware of the existing collaboration between the RCC and your institution, and I’m committed to not only continuing but also strengthening this partnership under my leadership. I acknowledge the vital role your university plays in developing our human resources, and I commend you and your Management team for the remarkable progress made since 2016.”
“Your institution’s growth and achievements are a testament to your dedication and hard work,” he stated.
Minister Joseph Nelson underscored the significance of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in driving the Western Region’s development.
He assured the university of his unwavering commitment to tackling its challenges, particularly those affecting the Akatakyei campus, where illegal mining activities have posed a significant concern.
“I’m well aware of the challenges faced by your Akatakyei campus, particularly the issue of galamsey activities in the area. We’ve received a letter regarding this matter, and it has been a topic of discussion in our efforts to find a solution. I want to assure you that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will fully support your institution’s endeavors, as we recognize the valuable contributions you make.”
While reiterating his open-door policy, Minister Joseph Nelson reaffirmed his unwavering support for Takoradi Technical University’s progress, ensuring a collaborative and productive relationship between the University and his administration.
“I’m committed to supporting the valuable work you’re doing. As the Regional Minister, I assure you that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and I are dedicated to helping you succeed. If you encounter any challenges or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly – my doors are always open”.
“The advancement of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) is deeply intertwined with the growth and development of the Western Region. I’m committed to supporting TTU’s endeavors, and I’m confident that together, we can drive meaningful progress”.
“Rest assured that you have my full backing, whether it’s related to infrastructure development, innovative initiatives, or any other project that will bring benefits and propel the region forward,” he assured.
The Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, highlighted the University’s core mandate during a visit.
He emphasized TTU’s commitment to driving capacity building, research, and regional development, which are pivotal to the University’s mission.
As outlined in TTU’s vision and mission statements, the University aims to provide technical education, training, research, and consultancy services to students and stakeholders, ultimately contributing to national and global development.
“Our mandate extends to developing the region through capacity building, research, and other key areas. Now that you’ve assumed office, I believe it’s essential we collaborate to drive growth in various sectors, including tourism development and exploring new business opportunities. By working together, we can unlock the region’s full potential and create lasting impact.” he emphasized.
The institution has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Minister’s office to boost key sectors, including tourism, business, and infrastructure development.
This partnership aims to drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the overall quality of life in the region.
“We have research directorates and other offices that I believe we can work with to help develop the region,” he added.
