The media did an exceptional job – Joseph Paul Amoah praises Super Zonals coverage

2023 African Games gold medalist Joseph Paul Amoah has extoled the media’s coverage of the 2025 Super Zonals athletics competition.

The two-day athletics meet, which was a determiner for the overall best school, was held in the Ashanti and Central Regions.

Prempeh College showcased their muscle as they meandered their way to the Ashanti Regional title – their fifth- while St. Louis showed their prowess in the female category, beating Yaa Asantewaa girls to the ultimate.

In the Central Region, it was one way traffic as Mfantsipim dominated the male event, laying aside fierce rivals St. Augustine’s College and Adisadel College.

The Red and Black boys racked up 116 points, beating closest challengers Adisadel by 7.5 points to win the title for a fourth successive time.

Meanwhile, Efutu Senior High come out tops in the female category, usurping Wesley Girls and Holy Child.

Impressed by the sprint on show across the country, the former Prempeh College old student, Joseph Paul Amoah, credited the media for its tireless coverage of the games.

“The media houses, you journalists, did an exceptional job in trying to bring the superzonals into the limelight, making other people see it. I don’t know if I can get a video of myself running when I was in Prempeh College. I dont know if theres a video over there, then somebody probably took a video on their phone, but I can’t find any on YouTube,” he said.

“So that’s the big thing that now, we are able to see stuff like that on YouTube, Tv3. You guys did your thing covering some athletes. That was really nice to see,” he added.

Joseph Paul came through the ranks at Prempeh College before moving on to Coppin State University College in 2017.

Amoah holds the record for the fastest 200m race ran by a Ghanaian, breaking Emmanuel Tuffour’s 24-year year record by running 20.08s at the NCAA Division I Championships in 2019.
