The current ‘Dumsor’ did not start on January 7 – NDC’s Samuel Ayeh

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Dr. Samuel Ayeh, has dismissed claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the current erratic power supply situation only started when President Mahama assumed office on January 7, 2025.

He said the current ‘Dumsor’ started way before President Mahama’s inauguration.

In an interview with 3FM Sunrise with Johnnie Hughes on February 28, Dr. Samuel Ayeh stressed that President Mahama solved challenges in the energy sector before exiting office in 2017.

“Everybody in this country knows that ‘dumsor” and the difficulties we have in the energy sector is something that has been lingering after it was fully solved in 2016. When the NPP came with their mismanagement of the energy sector, they had no money to even buy fuel and pay IPPs,” he said.

According to him, “The NPP has not been paying the IPPs, so they must not bury their heads in the sand like ostriches do when problems come and pretend as if this is the first time ‘dumsor” is coming in the last eight years.”

Dr. Samuel Ayeh, meanwhile, called for honest conversation regarding the country’s development.

”When problems come, we must all be candid and address the issue as they are and not always be wearing a political suit and be telling outrageous lies,” he said.
