
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has provided a significant update on the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a student whose passing has deeply shaken the university community.
In an official statement from the Office of the Registrar, KNUST revealed that investigators have retrieved Joana’s laptop and mobile phone, which were found hidden behind Flint Hostel.
This crucial discovery was made possible through the analysis of CCTV footage from the hostel’s security surveillance system.
Following this breakthrough, the suspect in custody was arraigned before the Circuit Court at Asafo on February 28, 2025. The court has remanded the suspect in custody, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17, 2025.
KNUST has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies in the ongoing case and has extended its gratitude to security personnel for their swift response. The university is also enhancing surveillance and security measures to prevent future incidents.
Authorities have urged students, staff, and the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.
Meanwhile, KNUST has extended its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Joana Yabani during this difficult time.
