Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has brushed off criticism, reiterating that his primary focus remains delivering silverware for the club, rather than engaging in public spats.
The Ivorian tactician has faced flak since last season, following a string of lackluster performances from the Phobians in the league, culminating in their recent FA Cup exit.
The Accra-based giants suffered a stunning Round of 16 elimination at the hands of Division one side Golden Kick FC, losing 4-3 on penalties after a goalless stalemate in regular time.
Despite mounting pressure from frustrated fans, Ouattara remains unflappable.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the 66-year-old acknowledged the criticism but insisted it would not derail him from his mission.
“Every coach will be criticized if things don’t go well. No problem. People can say anything they want—I don’t have any issue with that, and I’m not afraid,” he stated.
While some sections of the Hearts fanbase have called for a change in the dugout, Ouattara maintains that his job is to strive for success, not to determine his future at the club.
“If I’m the problem, I have no issue with that. My focus is on winning trophies. Whether I’m the right man for the job is not for me to decide,” he added.
Last season, Hearts under Ouattara’s stewardship narrowly escaped relegation, finishing fifth from the bottom, just a point above the drop zone.
With their FA Cup campaign now in the rearview mirror, Hearts shift their attention to the Ghana Premier League, where they currently sit fourth with 33 points, eyeing their 21st title and first honors since the 2021/22 season.
