Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, (GSA). Prof. Ransford Gyampo has responded to critics of his new appointment.
Following the news of his appointment as new GSA Boss, many have criticised his appointment mainly for the fact that he was an ardent critic of former President Akufo-Addo’s administration and an acceptance of his appointment would only a reward to him.
Speaking in an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Prof. Gyampo explained that it will only be “unpatriotic” of him to refuse an opportunity to serve his nation.
“You’re a nation wrecker if you do so,” he remarked.
He argued that former President Akufo-Addo was not the only President he criticised, stating that he had criticised ex-presidents J.A Kufuor, John Evans Atta Mills and President Mahama’s first term.
“It’s a democracy, people will say what they want…I started this work of subjecting government to scrutiny in J.A Kufuor’s time. Look at my work, ministerial appointment and government’s spending.
“When President Mills was the president, I was the man who told him that we don’t need a moralist as a President who will stand for a certain virtue and that virtue will not affect his appointees
“If it gets to John Mahama, the least said about him the better, we were part of those who sent him to opposition, we took him on critically and subjected him to strict proof,” he added.
The newly appointed GSA Boss further disagreed with the view that he is a member of the NDC due to his appointment.
“it is a certain display of low-key intelligence for people to say that once you criticised the previous government if you accept an appointment in the current government to serve Ghana, you all of a sudden become a member of that government,” he stated.
