A reshuffle within the leadership of the Majority Caucus in Parliament is imminent, following the approval of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Governs Agbodza as ministers in President John Dramani Mahama’s government.
According to sources, Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga is likely to succeed Dr. Ato Forson as the new Majority Leader. Ayariga, a seasoned legislator with years of parliamentary experience, is expected to bring fresh dynamism to the role, ensuring effective coordination between the Executive and Parliament.
South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is tipped to replace Governs Agbodza as Majority Chief Whip, taking on the critical responsibility of mobilising support for government policies among Majority MPs.
In addition, Cape Coast South MP Kweku Ricketts-Hagan is reportedly in line to take over as Deputy Majority Leader from Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, while Ada MP Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah is likely to be elevated to First Deputy Whip.
The anticipated reshuffle comes at a crucial time for the Majority Caucus, as it seeks to strengthen leadership and maintain focus amidst the demands of governance.
Dr. Ato Forson has recently been sworn in as the Minister of Finance, a role critical to steering Ghana’s economic recovery, while Governs Agbodza has assumed the Roads and Highways portfolio.
These changes are seen as part of the NDC and President Mahama’s broader efforts to ensure effective parliamentary oversight and governance.
With the reshuffle, the Majority Caucus aims to reinforce its leadership structure to meet the challenges of the current legislative agenda.
