The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has once again jabbed the Jubilee House for engineering a campaign of fake news on social media aimed at undermining him and his political efforts.
Mahama, whilst speaking to residents of Asene Manso Akroso at a mini rally Tuesday, November 19, 2024, stated that the presidency has devised a fake news unit which is aimed at discrediting his political strides and that of others.
His comments come on the back of a disclaimer issued by the Chief of Akyem Akroso, Nana Kwabena Ofori, denying reports that he had endorsed the flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during a recent visit to the area.
Reacting to the issue, John Mahama urged Ghanaians to verify information they find on social media in order not to fall prey to fake news as the December polls near.
“While Nana was speaking, he said journalists should be careful and not misconstrue him. Nana, it is not the journalists; it is the Jubilee House. That is where people are misconstrued. It is called fake news when what you have not said is reported as something you have said.
“It is not the right thing, but they have done it to me, they have done it to you, and a lot of people. So, all fake news on social media comes from the Jubilee House,” he stated.
