Young Apostles Samuel Prempeh’s sensational overhead-kick goal against Hearts of Oak has been named NASCO October Goal of the Month.
The forward found the back of the net with an audacious bicycle kick in Young Apostles’ matchday seven game against Hearts of Oak in Wenchi.
His 85th minute strike, from the edge of the penalty box, drew the home side level before Hearts of Oak’s Hamza Issah snatched all three points for the visitors with a close-range finish.
Prempeh beat off competition from Kotoko’s Albert Amoah, Accra Lions’ Stephen Amankona, Legon Cities’ Albert Yeboah, and Vision FC’s Daniel Yemoh.
Young Apostles, debutants in the Ghana Premier League, have faced a difficult maiden campaign in Ghana’s top flight; one which has seen their head coach, Joseph Asare Bediako, tender his resignation after ten games.
The club are 14th on the league log with ten points picked up from a possible 30.
Meanwhile, Samuel Prempeh was not the only player awarded for his exploits in October.
Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah was named October Player of the Month after scoring four times in five games, while Bibiani GoldStars’ shot stopper Emmanuel Kobi was adjudged as the best goalkeeper with his coach Frimpong Manso also clinching the Manager of the Month gong.
Matchday 11 of the 2024/25 season continues across the various match centers over the weekend.
