‘I have never been an NDC member’ – Nunoo-Mensah

Brigadier General (Rtd) Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, a former national security advisor to the late President John Evans Atta Mills, says he has never been a card bearing member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, President Atta Mills appointed him to work in his government due to his expertise and the familiarity between them.

The former chief of defense staff of the Ghana Armed Forces was very instrumental in the campaign of NDC in the December 2008 elections.

In 2009, after the party won the elections he was made the National Security Advisor to the then newly elected president, John Evans Atta Mills of the NDC.

He was replaced by another statesman and diplomat, Ambassador Baba Kamara when Ex-president John Mahama took over the presidency after the demise of Atta Mills.

Mr. Nunoo-Mensah who was speaking in an interview on Onua FM Etifi Nsem show on Saturday November 2, insisted that he has never been a card bearing or registered member of the NDC.

“I have never been a card bearing or registered member of the NDC and the fact that I worked for Professor Atta Mills does not mean that I was a member of NDC”.

But I joined the NPP and stood for Parliament for NPP in 1996 at Winneba but lost, he revealed.

He was quick to expound that he is not perturbed in any way to be tagged as a member of NDC since he knows that he is not an NDC and will never be.

He thus quizzed the return of John Mahama, stressing the current crop of leaders in Ghana have nothing to offer the country.
