Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed confidence in the Police to ensure incident-free elections this year.
Dr Bawumia stated that the Police have been well-resourced with tools to enable them to carry out their functions effectively.
He said this in a Facebook post after serving as the Review Officer for the 53rd Graduation Ceremony of the National Police Academy and Training School, Tesano, Accra on Wednesday, October 30.
“The Ghana Police Service has seen systemic re-orientation and reform over the past few years, the quality of training has also seen a major transformation, while Government has also played it’s part in meeting the logistical and infrastructure needs of the Service,” Dr Bawumia said.
Amongst others, he added “this Government has so far provided 630 New Housing Units in Accra, 720 new vehicles, 5,150 motor bikes, 2 new Regional Police Headquarters Office Complexes, 4 New Ultra Modern Bricks Police stations, and created 8 additional Police Regions, bringing the total to 25.”
“As we head into the December 7 polls I am confident that as they have done in the past, the Ghana Police Service will display their customary professionalism, assisting the Electoral Commission to conduct an incident-free election. Congratulations to the newly commissioned Senior Police officers. Make Ghana proud,” he further wrote.
