Hearts of Oak suffered their third defeat of the season, falling 1-0 to league leaders Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
Hearts, who had rebounded from two early losses with a six-game unbeaten run—including four draws—were dealt a setback at home.
Samuel Attah Kumi scored the decisive goal in the 69th minute, and Hearts couldn’t find an equaliser, leaving fans frustrated and pressure mounting on coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
GoldStars extended their lead at the top to three points after Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Basake Holy Stars.
Kotoko took the lead in the 36th minute through Albert Amoah, but the home side equalised, leaving Kotoko reliant on an upcoming match against Legon Cities on Wednesday to potentially catch up.
Elsewhere, Faisal Charwetey’s brace powered Nations FC to a 3-0 victory over Vision FC in Abrankese. Dreams FC’s struggles continued with a 1-0 loss at Young Apostles, keeping them winless and second from bottom.
Heart of Lions ended their winless run, defeating Nsoatreman, while defending champions Medeama’s 2-2 draw with Aduana was suspended in stoppage time due to heavy rains; the remaining three minutes will be played on Monday morning.
