Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku expressed his delight after a stunning performance helped Leicester City secure a crucial 3-2 comeback win against fellow promoted side Southampton on Saturday.
The Black Stars winger came off the bench to make a significant impact, guiding his team to victory at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Leicester City trailed 2-0 at halftime, following goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo for the Saints. However, the introduction of Issahaku in the 59th minute changed the course of the game.
Issahaku took to Instagram to express his joy, writing, “Foxes never quit. Huge three points. Thanks to the away fans for the amazing support. We keep it going.”
Replacing Victor Kristiansen, the 20-year-old wasted no time making his mark, setting up Facundo Buonanotte for Leicester’s first goal just five minutes after his introduction. The Ghanaian’s contribution brought the visitors back into the game, reducing the deficit in the 64th minute.
Leicester’s momentum continued, and in the 74th minute, Jamie Vardy converted a penalty to level the scoreline. The Foxes then completed the comeback in dramatic fashion, with Issahaku’s compatriot, Jordan Ayew, scoring the match-winner in injury time to secure the three points.
Despite recent struggles for the Black Stars, Issahaku’s impressive form for his club is a promising sign for both Leicester and Ghana.
