Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) president Samuel Eto’o has been banned from attending any matches involving Cameroon’s national teams for six months.
The sanction was issued by FIFA’s disciplinary panel following breaches of two articles in the organization’s disciplinary code.
The ban is linked to an incident during the Under-20 Women’s World Cup round of 16 match between Cameroon and Brazil on 11 September. Brazil won the game 3-1 after extra time.
According to FIFA’s statement, Eto’o’s actions during the match violated principles of fair play and involved offensive behavior, leading to his suspension.
As a result, the 43-year-old former Barcelona and Chelsea striker is now prohibited from attending any games involving Cameroon’s men’s and women’s teams, across all categories and age groups, effective immediately.
This is not Eto’o’s first disciplinary issue. Earlier this year, CAF fined him $200,000 for an ethics breach, though they found insufficient evidence to pursue match-fixing allegations.
Despite these setbacks, Eto’o continues to chair meetings and play a role in Cameroon’s football planning.
