The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) hope of recapturing the Fomena parliamentary seat and also increasing the party’s votes on December 7 has been given a boost.
In a unity rally held at Dompoase in the Fomena Constituency of the Ashanti Region, the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh admonished the people to forgive and forget about the past and rather unite and work together in the interest of the elephant family.
The unity rally set the stage for the hard work needed across the constituency to secure victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Andrew Asiamah Amoako.
This positive news follows the decision of two feuding groups in the party, who have openly fought for four years, to finally bury the hatchet, unite and work together.
The peace between the old and current executives was brokered by the Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh who was in Fomena to address the issues.
NAPO, after listening to the two parties, appealed to them to forgive and forget in the supreme interest of the ruling political party.
He stated that the NPP administration, led by President Akufo-Addo, has worked tirelessly over the last eight years to put the country on the path of prosperity, so the party should retain power and sustain its good works.
He therefore told the feuding parties that the NPP’s anticipated victory can only happen in an atmosphere of peace and unity, so the party’s members should come together and campaign for the NPP.
He told the feuding parties that the NPP has an unfinished business in government, so the party members should work hard to ensure massive electoral victory for the party.
As a sign of total unity, the NPP Fomena office, which had remained locked for the last four years, was eventually opened for the first time after the peace meeting.
NAPO also said the party’s decision to settle on the sitting independent MP for Fomena, Andrew Asiamah, as their parliamentary candidate for the 2024 polls, is appropriate. He said Asiamah, who traces his roots in the NPP, has always supported and worked together with the NPP members in the august House despite being independent MP.
The NPP running mate entreated the party’s supporters and sympathisers to offer their unflinching support for Asiamah, to enable him win the Fomena seat for the NPP on December 7.
In his response, Andrew Amoako Asiamah expressed how much he had missed being part of the NPP, a party he holds close to his heart.
He reaffirmed his commitment to lead the NPP to a resounding electoral victory in Fomena and pledged to work closely with the party to achieve this goal.
He appealed to the party’s leadership and supporters in Fomena to put aside any past grievances and unite for the greater good of the NPP.
He urged all stakeholders, particularly past and present executives and assembly members, to rally behind the party’s ongoing projects in the constituency as part of their campaign strategy.
