Rwandan High Commissioner in Ghana, H.E Mrs. Rosemary Mbabazi has iterated the need for Africans to synergize their cultural uniqueness and harness their assets to attain the desired socioeconomic transformation of the continent.
According to the diplomat, it is the essence of this urgency that made Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah call for and championed the campaign for African unity immediately after Ghana attained independence.
She added that it is the same urgency that must guide the actions of Africans today as they work towards making the free movement of people and goods possible across the continent.
“People across Africa are closely related by our cultural heritage and we are defined by the values that connect us beyond any language differences that we have. This uniqueness and oneness are a great asset that we must harness for the success of our transformation and socioeconomic transformation of our continent” Mrs. Mbabazi stated.
The Rwandan High Commissioner in Ghana made this call at the 3FM Afro Connect Festival held in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah on 21 September, 2024 at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra.
She reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to the vision of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) of creating a single African market.
“Practically, this common union is what gives us credibility to initiate such initiatives such as that of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) which recognizes that unless we put ourselves together in the pursuit of the common agenda but address our bottlenecks, no single African country by itself meet these challenges alone” she further underscored.
Mrs. Mbabazi went on to commend 3FM for putting together such an important Pan-African event to bring together all Africans in Ghana connect and amplify what Africa has achieved and what the continent envisions.
In his Keynote Address, Cherk Klutse of the Diaspora Investment Desk at Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) highlighted the trade and investment opportunities within Africa and how Unity can help the continent reach her full potential.
