Daniel Dubois crushed Anthony Joshua in five rounds at a packed Wembley Stadium to retain his IBF heavyweight world title.
Dubois’ shocking victory over the former two-time world heavyweight champion left 96,000 fans in awe as he delivered a series of devastating punches, ultimately sealing the win with a thunderous right hand.
The 27-year-old made an explosive start, dropping Joshua with a brutal right to the chin in the first round. By the second round, Dubois was relentless, delivering powerful combinations that had Joshua in serious trouble. The former champion barely survived the third round after being knocked down again by a vicious left hook that left him wobbling.
Joshua showed resilience, managing to stay on his feet in the fourth round despite Dubois’ continued onslaught.
However, by the fifth, Dubois had regained control. A final crushing right hand sent Joshua crashing to the canvas, and despite his efforts, he was unable to recover, forcing the referee to end the fight.
For Joshua, this loss shattered his hopes of becoming a three-time world champion and potentially facing the winner of December’s Usyk-Fury rematch. But for Dubois, it was a defining moment in his career.
After the fight, Daniel Dubois declared, “This is my redemption story. I’m not going to stop until I reach my full potential.”
Joshua, while disappointed, remained gracious, admitting to his mistakes but insisting that this is not the end of his boxing journey.
