A delegation from Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Information,Fatimatu Abubakar in Accra on Thursday Wednesday 18.
The deputy director in charge of production, Mr. Shasimana Uugulu who led the delegation expressed Namibia’s interest in learning best practices from Ghana on the implementation of the Brand Ghana agenda and the Right to Information (RTI) law in Ghana.
The delegation discussed other means of strengthening bilateral relations including combating misinformation, and the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two Ministries to share expertise and knowledge transfer.
Hon. Abubakar highlighted the significant role of political willingness and commitment in instituting the Brand Ghana agenda and encouraged consciousness to attract the diasporan African community to trace their roots in Namibia.
She expressed the Ministry’s willingness to provide technical assistance to Namibia in implementing its RTI law and the brand Namibia project.
Hon. Abubakar extended an invitation to the team to participate in the global conference on International Day for Universal Access to Information scheduled in Accra from October 1-2, 2024.
Other members of the delegation included Deputy Director, ICT Development, Mr. Fillemon Johannes, Deputy Director, Audio Visual-Mr. Reagan Malumo, the Deputy Director-Namibia Film Commission, Ms. Florence Hafene, Director at Information Directorate of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation-Bertha Amakali and the 1st Secretary at the Namibian High Commission-Jacky Hindjou.
