In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 1984 Year Group, the Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) Alumni have kicked off a fundraising event to support the reconstruction of the school’s academic block.
This initiative aims to address the critical infrastructure challenges the school is currently facing. The fundraising campaign, which seeks to raise 3 million cedis, will culminate in a grand event and dinner on October 26, 2024.
The event will bring together prominent stakeholders, alumni, and well-wishers to rally material and financial support for the school’s development.
Ahead of the major fundraising event, a press briefing was held on September 9, 2024, at the International Press Centre in Accra. During the briefing, alumni and school officials highlighted the growing infrastructure deficit at ANSECO, stressing the urgent need for support to accommodate the rising student population.
Speaking at the briefing, Mr. Eben Gohohio, President of the 1984 Alumni Year Group, attributed the surge in enrollment to the government’s Free Senior High School policy, which has led to a significant increase in student numbers without a corresponding expansion of the school’s infrastructure.
Headmaster of ANSECO, Mr. Wisdom Adeti, expressed his deep concern about the school’s infrastructural challenges but emphasized that development must go hand in hand with discipline and mentorship to mold the future leaders of the country.
He called on all stakeholders to come together in shaping both the minds and hearts of the students.
Founded in 1959, Anlo Senior High School is one of the leading secondary schools in the Volta Region, known for producing distinguished professionals across various sectors in Ghana and abroad.
However, the school’s academic block has seen little development in recent years, placing a strain on its ability to provide quality education.
In light of this, the alumni and school administration are appealing to the general public, corporate entities, and philanthropic individuals to support their cause and help rebuild the academic block, which is crucial for the future of the school.
