Accra Sports Stadium on Friday hosted the unveiling ceremony for the new office of the Sportswriters Association of Ghana (SWAG).
The event attracted key stakeholders from the sports community, including heads of various sporting federations and other dignitaries.
The newly renovated office space, provided by the National Sports Authority (NSA), has been transformed into a modern unit for SWAG. Majeed Bawah, the Deputy Director General of NSA, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the NSA and SWAG, emphasizing their commitment to supporting sports federations.
“We have been accommodating the association for a very long time, and we see it as an obligation to house them. Not only SWAG but all federations if we have the capacity. We will do that so that while we are together, we can work together, share common problems, celebrate our achievements, and move sports forward,” said Bawah.
SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah expressed gratitude to the NSA for their support, acknowledging the dedication of sportswriters and the collaboration with various sports authorities.
Appreciation medals were presented to notable figures, including former Deputy Minister of Sports Joe Aggrey, veteran journalist Ebo Quansah, GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo, and Chief Patron of SWAG, His Excellency Amarkai Amarteifio, for their contributions to the association.
