Coach of the Ghana U-20 female team, the Black Princesses, Yusif Basigi has expressed his satisfaction with his team’s preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The U-20 Women’s World Cup starts on the 31st of September in Colombia and as such, the Black Princesses have sped up their preparations for the tournament; playing two quick friendly games against Mexico U20 and then South Korea U20. Drawing each game at 0-0 and 2-2 respectively.
The game against Korea was the last preparations game before the Princesses begin their tournament against Austria on September 2nd.
Although the Princesses failed to win any of their two friendly matches, head coach of the team, Yussif Bassigi believes the team is ready for the challenge ahead.
“We’re ready, all what we wanted to see, we have and this has given us hope that we’re going to live up to the expectations”, he said.
The coach was also impressed with the progression of the team while also acknowledging the ideas the team picked up from the game.
“This has been an improved game as compared to the first game, because they were a bit tensed in the first game but this time they played very well.
This gives us a fair idea of what to expect in the tournament, because this was a friendly the referees protected the players a lot and this had give us an idea on what to do and we’re going to work on it”, he further stated.
Yussif Basigi would be hoping this renewed focus and confidence will help the team go all out in Colombia.
