Black Stars forward Osman Bukari got off the mark for Austin FC in Major League Soccer (MLS) as they beat Nashville SC 2-0 at the Geodis Park in the early hours of Sunday.
The Ghanaian wrapped up the win 6 minutes from time after Jon Gallagher had put Austin Fc ahead in the first half.
Bukari won the ball on the halfway line and raced through on goal as Nashville’s goalkeeper, Joe Willis, came off his line in an attempt to close him down.
However, Willis – who was a little over 35 yards out of his goal – failed to regain possession for his side as Osman tucked the ball home.
Osman has featured twice in MLS for Austin FC after the club purchased him for a club record fee (€7.0m) from Red Star Belgrade ahead of the new season.
The win moves Austin FC into 9th place in the Western Conference standings.
Elsewhere, Black Stars and Los Angeles Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil was denied by Atlanta United’s veteran goalkeeper Brad Gusan from 12 yards in their MLS game.
However, Marco Reus spared Paintsil’s blushes after coming on as a second-half substitute after 62 minutes.
The former Borussia Dortmund skipper set up a goal and got his name on the scoresheet as LA Galaxy ran out 2-0 victors on the night, to move to the summit of the Western Conference standings – albeit playing 3 more games than second-place Los Angeles FC.
LA Galaxy also etched their names in MLS history by becoming the first side to secure 400 regular season wins.
